Mansfield arts group buys land for theater

MANSFIELD — A long held dream for the 25-year-old Mass. Music & Arts Society is one step closer to reality.

The non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to a variety of performance and visual arts bought a three-acre site opposite the Xfinity Center on South Main Street where it plans to build a theater, art gallery, small performance spaces and classrooms.

The price for the property at 888 South Main Street was $1.9 million, according to documents on file at the registry of deeds.
