Mansfield Electric joins more than 275 public power utilities nationwide that hold the RP3 designation which recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. APPA is an advocate for community owned power systems and advices on policy, technology, trends, training, and operations for over 2,000 public power utilities serving 49 million customers. They have offered the RP3 designation for over 15 years. This designation award for Mansfield Electric is valid for three years.
“I think over the last year or so, we’ve seen the vital importance of running a reliable and safe utility,” says Aaron Haderle, Chair of APPA’s RP3 Review Panel and Manager of Transmission and Distribution Operations at Kissimmee Utility Authority, Florida. “The utilities receiving the RP3 designation have proven that they are committed to running a top-notch public power utility by implementing industry best practices.”
“We couldn’t be prouder to be honored with this designation,” said Joseph M. Sollecito, General Manager of Mansfield Municipal Electric Department. “This is the culmination of a lot of work from many people who really care about powering our community. From the leadership of our Board of Commissioners, the dedication of the Mansfield Electric staff along with the entire Town of Mansfield community, there is a great cooperative effort for excellence. However, this designation is not our final destination. Mansfield Electric is committed to continue to look for ways to improve our operations and provide exceptional service to our customers in the future.”
