MANSFIELD – The Town will soon be welcoming proposals from developers for a new use for the North Main Street fire station.
The building, constructed in 1930, was closed in February 2019 after a fire broke out in the station. It had already been planned to shut the old station and declare it as surplus property once the new $22 million public safety building opened on Route 106 this past summer.
The Town is now preparing to issue a request for proposals for the former station this month. The request includes a façade restriction to protect the building’s exterior, something many residents, officials and organizations in Town have supported.
