MANSFIELD – Four years ago, Arlene Coccia decided to shake things up in her professional life. Or more to the point, bake things up.
Coccia, a longtime Mansfield resident, previously floated between teaching and waitressing jobs. She could be seen behind the bakery counter at the now shuttered, much missed Aunt Aleda’s in Mansfield. Coccia decided that she wanted to dedicate all of her attention to what she enjoyed doing most: baking. And where better to do so than within the confines of her own home kitchen?
Hence, the concept of Hometown Bakery came to fruition and Coccia’s dream became a sweet reality for her customers. Aside from intermittent assistance from her husband, Dave, along with some teenage helpers, Hometown Bakery is a one-woman operation.
