With its historic buildings, art galleries, the National Black Doll Museum and centers for cultural happenings like the Mansfield Music and Arts Society and variety of restaurants, Downtown Mansfield is ripe for the creation of a “cultural district” that would encourage economic development and tourism, say members of the Mansfield Cultural Council.
Representatives of a subcommittee received backing for the concept from selectmen Wednesday that would qualify the district for special recognition and grants from the state.
