MANSFIELD – Selectmen are backing Big Y supermarket’s redevelopment of the Foxfield Plaza shopping center on Central Street and the Town of Foxboro’s bid for state grant money to pay for traffic improvements there.
In a letter to the state Office of Housing and Economic Development, Mansfield selectmen said a rebuilt Foxfield will “create nearly 200 jobs and lend a new vitality to this shared gateway area.”
Big Y is planning to tear down the current L-shaped strip mall at Foxfield Plaza, which straddles the Mansfield/Foxboro line, and replace it with a 56,100-square-foot supermarket.
